yosemite-pond-reeds-pano_yosemite-national-park-californiaHere is 1 more very interesting panoramic image from my trip last month to Yosemite National Park.  It is one of my favorite images from the trip, but it is definitely on the abstract side.  One of those pictures that I almost walked past without taking.  I shot it with my Fotoman 6×12 camera.  What do you think?

In other news, I am heading up to Juneau, Alaska tomorrow for 12 days.  My painting buddy Dominik Modlinski is going to meet me on Tuesday.  We hope that the weather will cooperate enough to allow us to cruise to Lituya Bay on the outer coast of Glacier Bay National Park like we tried unsuccessfully to do last July.  Wish me luck!

Yosemite Falls Panorama

This year I sold my beloved Pentax 67II medium format film camera and replaced it with a 22MP Canon 5D mkII for shooting landscapes. The only film camera that I still own is my Fotoman 6×12 panoramic camera.  I still find my large (>24″wide) fine-art prints to have more detail in them if they are shot with this camera and then scanned.  I often try to shoot my panoramic camera side-by-side with my other camera, but it does not often work out due to the conditions or the image format. This classic reflection image of Yosemite Falls was one of those days when I was not rushing trying to set up my camera in dynamic light so I could set up the second camera.  Also, it framed well as a vertical panorama.  Now I just need to find the right art buyer who needs a vertical pano in their large stairwell.

Here is another image from my recent trip to Yosemite. I shot it with my 6×12 panoramic film camera. It took me some time to get the film processed and borrow my scanner back from my buddy that I own it with. It was kind of fun going through the old post-trip process of looking at the images on the light-table, scanning them, and cleaning them up in Photoshop. Just like the old days!

In other news, my new Wordpress blog is almost ready to go live. I’m looking forward to sharing the new features with my audience.

Yosemite Falls

I just got back from a relaxing week in CA shooting with a few friends in Yosemite and Big Sur, visiting a friend in the Bay Area, and then attending an old college buddy’s wedding at Disneyland. Did I mention that CA is way too crowded for me?

This is a nice reflection image that I took early one morning of Yosemite Falls from the meadows in the Valley. It was a beautiful spot without any other photographers around. You might notice that this image is larger than what I typically post on my site. I’ve had a lot of requests for larger images, so I intend to redo my entire site this year with larger images that will also have a watermark on them again, since I have been having some problems lately with people using my website images for commercial purposes without my permission. I am also working on updating my blog to a Wordpress blog that will have a lot more features like search-ability, SEO, and RSS feeds in the next couple of weeks.
